Whenever I see photos with watermarks I always download the photo and remove the watermark by using the crop or stamp tool....especially when they're from Neocities. Why the hell are you watermarking your photos in the first place let alone caring how anyone will use them??? Did anyone used to care about this in the past...you know when photos weren't the dirt cheap commodities they are today.....you are probably the two hundred thousandth person to take a photo of that building you later watermarked. The only way you will make money on that photo is by selling it to Getty and they already got that specific angle of that building covered...don't fear.

These are photos I like but I did not take them. They're all either public domain or licensed CC0 so I don't even need to credit the author tho I will because I'm a nice guy. You should license all your things under CC0 and give back to humanity....art is nothing more than plagiarism anyway.....may as well make it official and live in peace :~) If you believe the modern world is too bureaucratic (it is)....then waive your right to be a bureaucratic asshole

We're all here to screw around....unless you take photos for a wedding and must extort the happy couple to make money there can be no possible reason you are playing dictator by upholding the copyright on your photo. Bureaucracy has ruined the world......doing most things today (especially without spending money) is like having hundreds of parking barriers coming down on you while walking down the street....or hell even better: a bunch of cops hitting you over the front of the face with their nightsticks every few feet. And then when you have your singular small and unimportant chance to diverge....you do the exact same.

I just don't understand why??? Do you think someone will buy the rights to your photos? Is it to garner attention to your site? Why would anyone visit your site again when you abuse your visitors and make demands upon them about a jpg that already exists in their computer cache somewhere.......

I saw one guy on here who said their favorite book was 1984 and then had a sternly worded copyright warning on their photos page....also 1984 is still under copyright in America despite Orwell dying 76 years ago.....would you say the author is still profiting from their creation?

A quick definition of CC0..... in most of the world and basically all of the West, when you make anything you are automatically the copyright holder of that thing and can bully people in court if they try to share it and especially if they try to make money from it. Copyright expires after a very long time (so long that lots of books from authors who have been dead forever are somehow still copyrighted) but when it does expire the thing becomes "public domain" and anyone can do anything with it and don't have to credit the author. It is basically impossible to waive your copyright especially in many European countries (might be possible in America but it's a gray area) so the next best thing is CC0 which is a legal license that allows anyone to do anything with a CC0 piece of art including not crediting the author and reselling and modifying it and such and such. In theory the original author still holds their copyright on that work but it doesn't matter since CC0 waives all your rights as a copyright holder such as legally bullying people when they share or many money off your thing.

We must all do this to make the world a simpler and better place!!! Anything on here you can save and do whatever you want and forget where the hell it came from

As a printer I would be remissed if I didn't mention Project Gutenberg which digitizes public domain books (old ones whose copyright expired....or never had copyright, like Shakespeare that old genius bum who died poor, alone and obscure because the courts wouldn't protect his right to bully others!!!) and puts em ere.

Whole website under public domain / CC0...all the images and text and such....unless said otherwise
